Veritas sewing machines are named after inspiring women. Emily Brontë (1818-1848) wrote the literary classic Wuthering Heights (1847), her only novel, under the pseudonym Ellis Bell. She also wrote poetry. She attended boarding schools in England and Brussels and later taught at a boarding school herself. She died of tuberculosis at the age of thirty after refusing to receive any medical assistance.
