Important Information Regarding Silk-Finish Cotton and Mercifil Cotton 

Amann Mettler are upgrading their Silk-Finish Cotton and Mercifil Cotton range from a 2-ply twisted thread to a 3-ply. Threads constructed by the new process score well in internal and external quality tests and show convincing proof of wearing less quickly while having higher maximum tensile strength and elongation. The quality of processing and colour remain at the expected high level. Experts at Amann Mettler expect the changes to be barely noticeable to end users and therefore anticipate little, or no reaction from end consumers. 

What Does This Mean For You?
From now until mid-2023, there will be a transition phase. All item numbers and indicators of thickness, length and composition will remain the same. Visually, there will be no difference between the original 2-ply and newer 3-ply threads. Only by unwinding the bobbin and pulling the thread apart will there be a detectable difference.
